Ok, so what’s  a Gratitude Journal?

Let’s start with the definition of gratitude. Gratitude comes from the Latin word Gratus, Meaning Pleasing and Thankful. I know you are like ok Jess I know the word. So what’s the deal?  Well, let me ask you when was the last time you took a moment out of your day to reflect on something you are truly thankful or grateful for was? Did you do it today?

This moment could be good or even bad; maybe it’s little or even big!

I started my gratitude Journal back in April after I visited my friend Nia. When I returned home, I began to notice that with my lifestyle was changing due to school, work, Bella and my personal life. I was starting to feel overwhelmed and wasn’t my cheerful, jolly self.

So I began to write in my journal every night or for the most part I try to. Listen some nights I don’t get too, due to my schedule. Life can be hectic sometimes, after all, I’m a mom. I know that’s not a great excuse but hey thought I’d try lol… If I find, I can’t write the night before. I try to do it first thing the next morning. This way I set my mood for the day on a POSITIVE NOTE! Trust me It truly helps!

What I like to do is take 30-45 minutes to think about my day and contemplate on what I am genuinely grateful for! Please remember what you write down doesn’t have to be something BIG it could be something as SMALL as someone buying you lunch, saying hello to someone, maybe you help a stranger with something, or even being called beautiful by a stranger, a loved one or a friend! 🙂 Personally, I like to call my Friends beautiful all the time! Hey! Women need to hear and need that Sh!!T on a daily!!!

Another reason why I am suggesting a journal is on the days you are not having a good day or maybe not feeling too well, the journal comes in handy. You’ll be surprised to go back through your pages or even jar and see how blessed you truly are. ( Yes some people use jars, they write the moments on a sheet of paper and stick it in a jar lol)

It’s something I’m working on, and hopefully, I will encourage you to start a journal. Writing your emotions is helpful and has been Proven to help you train your brain to think and feel better. People who write those little moments of gratitude down tend to be happier too; they aren’t as stressed. You may ask why?  Acknowledging these things on paper with words will help you cultivate an attitude of gratitude and with it will boost happiness for you that will last all year round and the years to come. I encourage you to grab a pen, notebook, and start writing!

Please leave me a comment. Let me know if you have a gratitude journal and if you feel it helps you too! I’d like to see your comments 🙂 #StayPostitive ☀️
